E-commerce, short for electronic commerce, refers to the buying and selling of goods and services over the Internet. It involves the online transaction of products or services between businesses, consumers, or a combination of both. E-commerce has revolutionized the way people shop, enabling individuals and businesses to conduct commercial activities electronically. I will be discussing six ways where there can be revenue made in an E-commerce business that I found in the article "6 Unconventional Growth Tactics to Generate Immediate E-commerce Revenue" by Mustafa Saeed.
1. Brand Partnerships - You can use your social media followers and can partner up with someone who has similar goals and entrepreneurial spirit like yourself to sell complimentary products. An example would be to email a customer where you can share information on an exclusive offer to a partner brand and they can do the same for you. This will allow both parties to earn revenue and work something out together.
2. Calling your customers - At times, customers appreciate reminders about their favorite brands they like to shop for. Calling a customer and engaging with them by introducing a new product or good deals can catch your customer's attention and result in a sale.
3. Virtual events - Hosting online events such as webinars, social media live streams or fashion shows online can lead to sales as customers don't have to worry about making a line at the store or leaving the comfort of their own home. Even paying for ads can be beneficial if you have an online business where you can pop up on their newsfeed and gain new customers.
4. Retail takeovers - This idea might not be the most legal one out there but, you can try and stand outside a store that has a similar audience as yours. Perhaps, if your business includes selling jewelry, or perfumes, you can go outside an Ulta Beauty store and aim to connect and sell to customers that might have a similar interest in your products.
5. Email networks - Leveraging the emails of others can prove to be another cost-effective way to make revenue at a fast pace. You can email newsletters, content publications, brand owners, etc. You can find multiple networks that pay and allow you to email a list where you can promote their products.
6. Pre-orders - You can have customers pay you in advance without you having to give them their products there and then. You can send a sample product and educate them on it as they will pay you first. Giving them a discount, free gift or collectible item can also catch their attention for them to purchase more often from you as well. Vendors can place big orders throughout the year or depending on the type of business you offer as they can even pay you for months in advance.
